Life's Voyage

I stand alone in a solitary stop,
Lonely and dismissed yet illuminated,
Amidst a forest of stalks yet to pop.

I see shadows ‘round me so exposed to light,
Alone amongst a starkness without reprieve,
Wishing that I may someday take flight.

The roots that locked me still yet persevere,
To withstand the winds and blazing sun,
For what is life when it cannot veer?
